International digital identity
Yivi has an unprecedented standard for privacy-preserving digital identity that works internationally. Our solution supports dozens of countries and offers users genuine choice in how they share their identity information across borders. With this, anyone with a passport can now create highly private digital credentials in Yivi. These credentials enable secure identity verification, age verification, and numerous other use cases while giving users unprecedented control over their personal data.
Unmatched privacy and interoperability
What sets Yivi apart is our dual-protocol approach: we offer both IRMA/Idemix credentials for maximum privacy and OpenID4VP/SD-JWT VC credentials for broad interoperability. This means users can choose the technology that best fits their needs—whether prioritizing cryptographic privacy guarantees or compatibility with emerging international standards.
No other digital identity platform currently offers this combination of privacy technologies. Where other providers focus solely on interoperability or lock users into proprietary systems, Yivi delivers both: cryptographically strong privacy protections through selective disclosure and compatibility with evolving European and international identity frameworks.

Add passport data
Start by selecting to add your passport information to your Yivi app.
Credential information
Review what information will be stored in your digital credential.
Scan MRZ code
Scan the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) at the bottom of your passport or manually enter date of birth, date of expiry and document number
Start NFC reading
Prepare your device to read the NFC chip in your passport.
Reading NFC data
Hold your passport against your device to securely read the chip data.
Processing chip data
The app and our open-source server verify and process the cryptographic data from your passport.
Passport credential ready
Your digital passport credential is now ready to use for secure identity verification.
Supported countries and documents
We support all countries that have implemented the standard as specified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), in Doc Series 9303 and are present in either the Dutch or German masterlists maintained by the government.

About international digital identity
Yivi supports passports from more than 30 countries for identity verification. For all EU member states, we are actively working on adding support for national ID cards.
- Passports: Fully verified and available for all listed countries. These can be used for both age verification and complete identification.
- ID Cards: For all EU member states, support for national ID cards is in development. For non-EU countries, this is currently not planned.
- Driver’s Licenses: Dutch driver’s licenses are currently in the testing phase. We are exploring the possibilities to support driver’s licenses from other countries as well.
Privacy and interoperability
Yivi offers the best of both worlds:
- Idemix/IRMA protocols provide maximum privacy through zero-knowledge proofs. For example, you can prove that you are over 18 years old without sharing your exact date of birth.
- OpenID4VP with SD-JWT credentials ensures maximum interoperability with other digital identity systems and complies with the latest international standards (eIDAS 2.0).
